Born in Adelaide, Sth Australia, David Starr has 35 years experience as a professional photographer. David’s photographic diversity is expansive. Primarily, a portrait a photographic artist. David’s 15 solo’s have exhibited in Sydney, NSW southern Highlands and Croatia. He has worked commercially with multiple educational institutions, small business profiles and personalised corporate portraiture. Model portfolio and family portraiture are second nature for him. Photojournalistic projects continue.

David photographed over 850 weddings, having founded his previous company STARR PHOTOGRAPHY in 1998. He has won several awards with AIPP and photographed in this ceremonial arena for three decades.

Essentially, David’s understanding of natural light, innate sense of the artistic and his ability to communicate/connect with clients remain his strengths. He resides in Sydney and has a European base in Croatia.

As an artist , David’s 15 solo exhibitions have expired and depicted European cities , Australian landscapes, macro abstracts , the female nude and photojournalism.

“The understanding of natural light is everything for me. My compositions come from patience and a momentary stillness - even within a candid capture. The initial ‘seeing’ is the foundation of an engaging image and the story that can follow. My aim is to compose a photo that has an emotional impact, evoke story, invites contemplation, is compelling , engaging or visually intriguing. Just one of these is enough to make me feel fullfilled. Sometimes all align.”

David is a qualified Art Therapist, resides in Sydney and has a European base in Croatia. His other passions include Operatic theatre, caring for the AGED, the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the music of Verdi, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Eno and Bowie. He swims most days , is inspired by nature and is embedded in his garden.
